Answer: Q-Logic now offers kick panels in two sizes.
Our "B" series kick panels incorporate a recessed 6-1/8" round surface area that will accommodate many popular mid-range/mid-bass speakers. The most common size mounted in these panels are 5 1/4" speaker sets. These kick panels come with a formed speaker grill to complete the factory installed look. Approximate mounting depth is 2.5".
Our new "C" series kick panels offer an approximate 7" round surface area that will accommodate 6 1/2" speaker sets. These kick panels do NOT come with speaker grills. The speaker grills supplied with the component speaker should be used. Approximate mounting depth is 2.9".
Most Speakers Lie About Their Size
Always ensure that you have proper mounting diameter and depth for your particular speaker. A normal 5-1/4" diameter speaker with mounting ring is actually 5-1/2" to 6" inches in diameter. When installed, this will be a direct drop in and a larger speaker will not be required.
Measure Twice - Install Once
Save yourself headaches by planning ahead and consult the speaker manufacturer's specification sheet for speakers not yet in your possession, but anticipate purchasing. There's nothing more frustrating than realizing a speaker is too large to fit after you're half way done with the installation process.
For Experienced Installers Only
Using precise cutting and some light fabrication, up to a 6-1/2" mid-range/mid-bass speaker can be secured to the back of the "B" series kick panel. NOTE: We recommend only experienced installers modify Q-Forms. You will void your warranty if any modifications are made to your Q-Form kick panels.
